I tried posting this in appearance but got no help at all.

Anyways, I'm going to be painting my Y8 valve cover soon, but it has some corrosion on it. Can I just sand this off or would I have to sand blast it? Do I need to do something else?

Always clean the corrosion off anything you paint.

Media blasting would be best but you can hand sand but make sure you go over it a few times with progressivly finer grits so no sand scratches show up.

if you sandblast it, you have to make sure you get the inside VERY clean, especially in the closed off part for the breather.
