Nelson Ledges video please
does anyone have some video of Nelson Ledges. I'll be headed that way next week, and I'd like to get an idea of what it will look like before I set a wheel on it.
TIA
TIA
I think I have a video of flies in a marsh somewhere....or a cespool (that isn't the old Summit restrooms) somewhere.
I did find these however:

Good luck at school!

Thanks for the search and the oh so encouraging words...
I had found the first link (broken) and the second one, well, I can't see crap.
I know, I know... I am being picky, but thanks!

The track is not as bad as it used to be. They have flushing toilets and runnning water. 2/3's of the track have been repaved. Then again don't expect the holy grail of tracks.
Watch for cars popping out of nowhere @ Oak Tree. Its a blind corner, and there's a couple members (myself included) that can attest to the horror that can occur when they don't station a flagger at the far end of the corner...and don't know someone has spun out at the turn exit...

Nelson sometimes skimps on flaggers for open track days depending on car levels. This isn't the best but I guess you pay your $100 and take your chances...I know what I'm getting into when I do those days and I always try to adjust my driving (and expectations) accordingly.
Given that this is an SCCA event, I'm sure all flagging stations will be manned and handled much better than during the open track days.
Still, that is a good warning - that is one of the turns where something can pop up right in front of you.

Ya'll are making me feel so good about going to that track.
Without a dedicated crew. The car will just have to be solid.

Hehe. Surface is kinda bumpy between turns 3 and 4 iirc. Not really much of a braking zone (it was for me, cuz I'm a n00b). Turns 7-9 are pretty heavily banked (they named it the Carousel). Oak Tree is banked as well. 10 and 11 are basically flat out, unless you have a Mosler MT900 or something (yes, open track days w/ Moslers are SCARY). Turn 11 has a dip at the apex, so I tended to scrape a lot there. And the surface is kinda uneven there too leading into turn 12...but not to bad. Turn 13 is banked as well.
Does that give you somewhat of an idea?
Pretty fun track. Tire walls are forgiving...although runoff room (especially @ Turn 4) due to steep embankment isn't the greatest.

OK I was bored this am so I found another Nelson Ledges video:
http://www.specmiatavideos.com/one_lap_videos.htm
Scroll down, they have the track map and video from a Spec Pinata lap.
Also, I found an old link indicating that Jon Kofod on honda-tech had a video from like 2003 of his H4 car at Nelson, you could try instant messaging him to see if he still has it available (it's not on his web page any more unfortunately). Might be interesting to see how his Honda line differs from that of a Miata.

That is a pretty nice link and the lap of Nelson brings back a lot of memories since I haven't driven there in a decade since the old Longest Day 24 hour enduro. Now just turn off the sun for a pitch black 3 a.m. night stint in the 24 hours and have a ton driving lights aimed every direction and it will be like home.
For Nelson being one of the relatively shorter tracks around, it has a lot of long sweepers and high speed turns that flow pretty well with really only one turn that you would call much of a "slow down" corner. Being so fast is part of the reason why it has a reputation for trouble.
Have fun Seb, just mind your Ps and Qs.
