non vtec ecu

I have a socketed P74 b18b ecu. I just wanted to know if i put a vtec program chip in it will it run vtec? Do I need to do anything else to the ecu to make it run vtec?

you need to modify the ecu, not just the rom. http://www.pgmfi.org

you will also have to add the v-tec sensor to the engine and customeize you ecu harnesses

actually there is a lot more to the poor man's type r than "customeize"-ing your harness.
