I paid 250, and it was a unique experience to say the least.
Did I overpay?
I'm picking up a used 600, however, wondering what gear to get, brand etc?
thanks

I paid around 200, it just depends where you live. For gear depends how much you want to spend. Helmets you can look at Shoei, Arai, Suomy, HJC. Jacket, gloves, boots and etc. you can check out Alpinestars, Joe Rocket, Icon, Teknic, Dainese, Sidi and the list goes on.
I took the msf course for 150 at cerritos college. And for helmet I haven't bought one yet. I bought a icon jacket for 140
I just finished the msf course like 2 weeks ago, its so much fun man. I payed $150 for the class cuz im under 21, If your 21+ its $98. I also payed $130 for my helmet and mirror sheild. http://www.Helmetharbor.com
cheap prices all around.

$40 baby!! gotta love ohio!!
search online for a nice helmet, remember it will save your skull.
i know suomy makes some really nice ones, along with arai, and shoei, but try to find something that fits nice. i know you can fin da lot of good deals on the internet, but can't stress enough to try it on, at a store or shop. You don't want to wear a helmet that doesn't fit you right, and you need to wear your helmet. good luck!

As far as helmets go I wear a Shoei X-11. Light, great ventilation, and looks that kill:

I recommend Dainese for a jacket. They are pricey but you pay for what you get, great protection, quality craftsmanship, excellent fit and finish:

I got these alpinestars gloves and they are great for everyday riding as they are comfotable as all hell, however they are not a gauntlet style glove and therefore sacrafice some protection for comfort. I will be upgrading as money permits:

A gret place to find cheap gear is: http://www.newenough.com/
Also check out: http://www.kneedraggers.com/
Cant forget: http://www.cyclegear.com/
Hope this helps mang. Just remeber #1 Protection. #2 Comfort. #3 Cost. #4 Style.

I think I paid like 70 or 80. It was a long time ago but in cali the government picks up part of the bill if you're not 21 yet since the msf is required to get your liscense. Otherwise i think its like 200.
i used joe rocket leather gloves, my hjc helmet, and a joe rocket jacket with army issue boots
i paid nothing for the course

I paid 150 for my MSF.
I would just get decent gear but not really pricy(i.e. HJC helmet, textile jacket).

MSF was 300+ here.
You can't get "ripped off" because the price varies from state to state depending on how much funding they get from that state.
