Well, as some of you know i completed my minime swap this summer.. heres the case, my old engine was pretty strong with a jg 301 cam, prospeed ecu, i/e. Now i have a minime setup, but other than a more tractable low end, and that cool vtec sound. it feels the same... its a cranky motor, and oil leaks like crazy (i have to add a quart of oil every week) I just bought another d16a with lesser miles and a better clutch.. now i need opinions.. the motor comes with a p/p head, milled .38, and i think mild cam. would that be good enough.. or should i do another minime?? any opinions? also, how does a 6 puck, dual diaghpram clutch ride??

 

BTW, if anyone knows of any good sites about swapping d16 motors, send them..

 

hey man, noticed ur from pasadena, i'm over here in monterey park, bout to do my mini me swap soon, once i get every lil piece together..
that motor sounds good, do you have the jg cam on right now? and if so how is it? i'm in the process of looking for a sohc vtec camshaft, right now i got 3 options
JG i dunno the specs for it tho
Crower (specs look good but cant find them ANYWHERE)
ZEX/Comp cam, might get this one cuz its easier to get a hold of and the street/strip cam looks pretty good

 

do the mini me w/ a odb0-0db1 conversion (including injectors, 02, dist, and ecu). get your p28 ecu reprogrammed. that will make you happy and no oil leaks. when you do it use the extra motor you have and build it up a bit... or atleast refrepoo poo w/ rings and bearings ect..... act clutch is allways nice too. you can get them for 250 or less.

So i should so another minime?? I mean, its cool and all having vtec, but it wasnt that much of a power difference, it was like having a perfomance cam. I think the non Vtec motor felt strong enough.. Does anyone know of any good sites with How To's for swaps??

 

I would build another mini-me. In the process try getting an aftermarket cam for the Vtec head. Should make a good difference. You can find them used online for pretty cheap. I found some for $100-150. Try thepartstrader.com

 

do minime swaps leak oil all the time? what exactly did you do wrong to make it leak oil? just trying to get the info for this swap. was thinking of doing it but now i'm not sure...

 

i have a vx and was planning on doing a del sol tranny swap
what do you think is better...
do a whole d16z6 swap?
i wanna retain most of my gas mileage but but have a kick in acceleration.
also, is the camshaft of the d16z6 the same for the d15z1 and if not, could i swap them.

 

get the hole engine or find a d16z6 block and port it your self
