92-00 radio harness the same?
i have a 98 civic and my deck got stolen... they thieves cut the factory radio harness so now i'm left with just wires. well i'm gonna put back a plug on there.. i was just wondering if the 92 civics had the same plugs as hte 98s. i have a friend who has a 92 parts car laying around. anybody know?
I don't think it will but I could be wrong. If you ever plan on getting an alpine head unit, I have an adapter harness that I'll let go for cheap.
For the most part radio harnesses are universal with themselves. Let me explain that.
You buy an Alpine harness, it will fit into all Alpine head units. Same with Sony and everyone else.
So with that said i want to say that if you get a 92 it would still play a stock honda and some other head units.

Well aren't the wire colors all the same between all harnesses, and if they're not, don't they all have the functions written on them in tiny font. I'd just worry about the plugs working together.
yes i understand they have the same function.. heck i can just wire up a head unit without even a factory plug. but i want it so later on it's convenient to switch it out. i guess they're not teh same, i'll just look for one at a junk yard
thanks guys

he's talking about the factory plug, not the adapter plug for hooking up the radio,
YES it will work and its a lot easier than hardwiring a radio straight to the wires where the factory plug should be

There is a difference between the factory radio harness from 92-95 and 96-98. The harness in my 96 was cut by thievs when I bought the car. There are more wires in the 96-98 then 92-95. I know some of the 96-98 civics that have a factory alarm run through the radio and if you remove the factory radio the alarm and keyless wont work, or something like that. You may be able to make it work but I just got one out of a 96-98.
I think it should fit. But if u want... go here... they have the diagrams for the specific years of hondas. http://www.installdr.com
