LS rods with ITR pistons help
Hello All,
I have a b18b block with stock rods and some new ITR A03 pistons. I noticed that the rods won't slide into the small cylinder the pistons have to connect the rod to the piston. Do I have to get the rods machined? Or should I just get me some new Eagle Rods and if I do get the eagle rods do I still have to have them machined as well? If I get Eagle rods do I buy them for a ls block or for a type r block since I am using type r pistons on an ls block/crank.
This is all for an ls/vtec project I am working on which is a b18b with a p72 head. Oh and my other question is the water pump. I have a new ls water pump but will the ls water pump work with the gsr head? or do i need to get a vtec (gsr) water pump?
Thanks in advance for the help....

The LS water pump will work but you will need to use an LS timing belt. The GSR water pump is slightly bigger and has a bigger gear, a better choice. If you use the GSR pump then you will need a GSR timing belt.

You just need to have the stock LS rods machined to oem clearances to fit the ITR pistons. I am doing pretty much the same build as well. Upgrading the rod bolts to ARP and re-sizing the big-end bore at the same time is a good idea, and after this remember to balance the rotating assembly.

Why would you machine the rods for them to fit in the motor? </TD></TR></TABLE>
The problem is not the rods fitting the block...its the rods fitting on the pistons...
