"well built" meaning rods/pistons, headwork, valvetrain/cam upgrade, 2-3k sounds a bit low.

i thought ls/vtec was the "cheap' GSR? someone fill me in on why it is so expensive...why not just go with a gsr motor and save the hassle?

or do you mean fully built as in rods/pistons/so on...... if so i can understand why so pricey, and if that the case, how much for a base ls/vtec?

please inform me!

Well some people's ideas of well built may differ from yours. I had a B16A3 bought a LS block with type r water pump and oil pump, stock rods and crank with B16 pistons it cost me $1,290.00 then you need need an oil line kit that's about $100.00. But if you need it all trans, head, block.... it can add up quick.

a good running LSVTEC will cost you $4k and up!

reliability issues such as throwing a rod, bent valves, and oil leaks among other stuff will be seen on an LSVTEC that costs $2k

I never thought LSVTEC was a "cheap GSR"; IMO you cant compare an LSVTEC to a GSR, although some people might oh well

yes some people have to get the LS long block, and a VTEC long block, then tranny oil pump water pump ecu etc etc... you wont even be able keep track of the expenses

hows your car running now? any times?

Because its more work LS stock is not VTEC. so you need a VTEC head, cams, camgears, etc. then you need someone to assemble it and tune it. Plus the block. VTEC solenoid, etc. its a lot of extra parts and more parts the you never knew you needed.

well for reference. we do High compression bottom ends for about $1200. that includes new bearings, ITR pistons, rings, RS MAchine honed/hot tank/bore, new VTEC oil pump, assembly, oil pan gasket and oil filter.

so that gives you an idea on how the bottom end should cost. We are actually doing a high compression LS bottom end Group buy with the same stuff listed about this coming week. should be about $999.00 for all the stuff mentioned above. if interested in that.. feel free to IM or email us.

If you dont have a LS core to send us, we can get one for you. prices on the cores are $200-450 depending on year of B18A or B18B.
thanks

Wil
