What is this part?
It came with the Energy Suspension Shift Stabilizer kit. The kit did not come with instructions so I do not know???

Could this be where it goes?

Anyone have a know?

The shifter linkage is made up of two rods. One rod runs from the motor (or tranny, I forget) to the hub that the shifter sits in. The other rod runs parallel to the first rod and runs from the shift rod you have pictured to the tranny and is the one that actually changes gears.
The bushing you have goes on the first rod that I was talking about, which is just held on by a bolt. Take off the bolt and then using a screw driver pry off the old bushing. Then use some grease on the new bushing and pop it on. It's a bitch and you'll want your car on jack stands for some space to work with.

That bushing was a snao to put on for me.... but I also, like you, thought it went on the shifter... I pressed it OVER the ball of my first short throw shifter, tried to put it in... and when i reached for the socket, i sawwhere it was supposed to go... i was PISSSSSED... I had to press it back out over the ball again, talk about a pain.
I wish I had a camera, I used the forklift at my work as a press... lowered the forks on the bushing.
LOL

Will I notice a difference in anything with that bushing instaled? What does it have to do with shifting if it connects to the motor? I think Im a little lost.

if you can jack the front of your car up and put it on jack stands, with a socket wrench it will take you 10 mins at most... you've got the bushing... might as well use it. it can only help.
...the bushing probably just takes some of the "play" out of the shifter when you move it around.
