Default d15b8 Vs d15b7

As you can tell by my screen name that i dont own a civic and dont really know that much about them but a friend of mine going to replace the motor in his 94 civic hatch and the motor in it now is a d15b8 and the motor he got from the junkyard is a d15b7 which is a 16 vavle and the b8 according to him is a 8 vavle i was wondering if he only needs the ECU for the b7 for everything to work properly or not any info will help
