Default New exedy clutch kit installed...grinding still?

Ive got a 97 civic hx ...

I just replaced my clutch with an exedy clutch kit and when shift into reverse it still grinds...and shifting into first still is a struggle of some sort.? any suggestions to why this might be happening... i thought the new clutch would fix all of this, guess not....my mechanic said their was no need to resurface flywheel he said its still in good shape.

all comments appreciated?

Seems pretty common. Are you trying to put it into first while your rolling? Because it doesnt like that lol.

REALLY should have had that flywheel resurfaced...think about it
Really clean smooth surface
Really dirty not-so-smooth surface
....Not wise.
Was the throwout replaced too? Did you adjust the rod above the clutch pedal?

as far as putting it in reverse and it kinda grinds..if your at a complete stop and need to go in reverse..try putting the car in 1st gear then shifting into reverse..but with the clutch down the whole time before you are ready to actually move in reverse..then once in reverse..you may release the clutch and so on..for some odd reason..it helps going into reverse..

replacing a clutch really wont get rid of the grinding. the only thing the clutch may have done is that you didnt bleed the clutch enough so that the clutch wasnt fulling engaging thus giving you a grind going into gear

try bleeding your clutch....

you will know if your clutch is gone if you can't get into gear at all or you will barely start the car

if thats not it.... your syncros might be shot...

I'd say syncros. If its grinding, a clutch isnt gonna fix it. syncros are relatively cheap, but the work is a pain in the ***
