found walmart selling helmets....
well i have never dealt with helmets or what not but for you road racers, i found a bell helmet at walmart... $78? not that bad.. now i don't know if it's a new item or what not, but it was the first time i saw it a few days ago... here it is here:
it's DOT approved but don't remember if it's snell approved (didn't know what to look for when i saw it the other day)

Not necessarily... You could just about strap a salad bowl to your head and have it be DOT approved. Snell has higher standards, which is why it's required for SCCA and most other clubs.

ok thanks...in reality i would think DOT would have stringent requirements for helmets too considering you would hope the gov't is making strict guidelines for the public to use...

yeah, its really not. the govt takes a very REactive approach to liability, not a PROactive approach.

We used to call the basic DOT approved cheapo motocycle helmets "egg shells". Just don't let them hit the edge of that salad bowl.

well i believe target has it (not 100% sure)... they come in the form of a baby seat... my school's buses ride on recaro seats... w00t for uc davis transportation

Well, I did find an M2000 rated helmet at Meier (kinda like walmart in a not so evil empire sorta way) in Michigan, but I think they were discontinuing them. Cant really complain for a $40 legal autoX helmet.
