Default E-bay strut bat doesn't fit right?????

Now I am mad. I decided to get those cheap 16.00 a set front and rear upper strut tower bars for my little 91-DX. Well they show up and I try and mount the front one first. I removed the fuse box bolts to give myself some room and after putting the right side upper bracket over the strut bolts the fuse box can't be bolted back down. What the hell? It forces the fuse box about an inch towards the fender. I mean I know they are cheap but it would be nice to put the fuse box back where it supposed to go. Has anyone else encountered this problem. The mounts can't be reversed so they only go on one way.

[B]I did call the company in CA and they stated they would send me a return label and refund me minus the shipping...But how many other guys are going to buy them.[B]

you're problem lies in the title, and the 2nd sentance of your post.

problem #1: ebay strut bar
problem #2: cheap 16.00 set

not flaming, calling you and idiot, or any of that immature non-sense. but most things on ebay are "universal," meaning they say they're for one specific thing, but the guy who does the measurments isnt the shiny-est civic at the meet.

anything you get on ebay, you can gaurantee you're going to have to do some custom work to make it work right. thats just how it goes. especially if you only pay 16. good deal though

i bet it wouldnt take much to make it fit. spacers or something. surly you could find an inch somewhere to clear that fuse box?

lol, Thanks...thats what I thought but this guy has sold like thousands of these, his feedback is over 15,000...lol...the fuse box will not go back down. I have already boxed them back up to ship back...Guess I learned that lesson. I mean I saw so many posts after I searched and no body complained about it. I figured it would be ok. Guess not hugh.

BTW. I did laugh, thats what I would have said to.

If you paid $16 for them, and they "say" they'll refund you minus the shipping...you'll get a refund of about $0.15

i'd rather have my fuse box bolted down as opposed to having a strut bar that does almost nothing. heh. maybe it's just me though.

I got an eBay front and rear and it fits just like you said (the rear is fine tho.) Anyways, i'd take the money I saved from buying these over something like NEUSPEED and get some go fast goodies.

My other car has a NEUSPEED and to be honest - I shoulda spent the money on gas (gas prices suck!)

What type of strut bar was it ? I installed a few on customers cars and all of them fit. I remember the one name brand was megan racing, the only problem was the bottom front one did not want to fit, do to the different engine he had in there.

i have one of those ebay strut bars, and i have the same problem, i got 3 of the 4 bolts in, so it's not going anywhere.

you cant expect much from off-brand carparts. you get what you pay for.

I had a front upper put in my 91 Accord before and it fit but the same thing happened. I don't think you'll find many custom bars that have much of a different outcome. I actually bought one on ebay for my cx but it would not fit because the PGM-FI sticks up too much. At least your fits in dude. That is one positive. As long as you torque the bar down it should do its job.

I am wondering, The Neuspeed bar isn't so bad in price for the front, Why is the rear so much more? I would think it would be easier=cheaper to manufacturer?

i got a ebay full set and so far the 2 that i installed (front and rear upper) fit fine. the fuse box sticks up very little, but its on there good. To get it to fit, i removed the fuse bx, installed, then put it back.

I got a front Tenzo...it's sturdy as hell and fits great. It does look like it rubs a tiny bit on the hood... so I guess I use "great" lightly. The only thing I'm not going to like it when I have to mess with my brake fluid I have to take off the bar...but how often will I be gettin in there?

O yeah...and if someone on this thread is a douche, can it be me?
