Racing seat for bigger people?
1. As the title states, I'm in the market for a racing seat. I'm 6' exactly and about 208lbs with a 34" waist*leaves out breast size*
.
I have sat in a Bride Zeta 2 and an an OMP Grip(Thanx Justin and Dr. Poo) and they both seem to be a little small, waist wise, for my liking. I have searched quite a bit on this topic but it seems most peeps aren't my size.
Another seat I have been looking at is the Sparco Evo2. But, alas, I can't find somebody local that has one for me to sit in. Also stores won't let me sit in any because it bends the mounting hardware when it's on the floor.
Just looking for some suggestions from people that have one or that have sat in one that around my size.
2. Another question is about mounting hardware. I have also read that most brackets that come with the seats suck. Do I get custom ones made? Where would I do that?
Any help would be greatly aprreciated. TIA

i am about your same size, and i sat in the evo2 at nopi last year......
it fit very nicely..... great in the waist area, but maybe a little big in the shoulder area...... but then again, i like to fit very snugly.......
i had recaro srd's for a while and they fit nicely also......

where are you located? if you've sat in the OMP grip seats, they are definitely more snug than the Sparco EVO 2. Seems like the Sparco EVO 2 would be the best option for you, but i would definitely suggest buying a seat only after you have sat in it for yourself. you're going to have to find a shop that will allow you to sit in their display seats or find someone in your area with the Sparco EVOs.

I'm in Vancouver, B.C. Since I'll be riding with Brandon to Expo 5 I'm hoping that some peeps in the caravan will have a seat or two to try out.
Thanks for everyone's help so far.

My carbon-kevlar Recaro would fit you perfectly.
I tried to take a pic of the seat by itself, but Ken (Black R) wouldn't get up

6'-3" (was 255) with a 38" waist, and fit fine in measured 'road race' Kirkey.
Measure yourself and order the seat that fits... make the brackets and have a 'race' seat.

i'm 180 lbs and 6'.
the sparco evo fits me snug. (36" waist). I suggest going with a EVO 2. EVO1 is great for me though
fits like a glove. No pain unless on driving trip for more then 5 hours without break

Go to Driver's Edge Autosport at 2323 Boundary.
Frank has most of his seats on display so you can try before you buy.
I believe there are two seats 1) the King and 2) the XL for fat asses like yourself
Be aware of the fact that when you first buy a bucket it should feel tight. The padding packs out a bit after about 3 months.
BPR - who is 6' and 200 lbs but has a nice tight butt

if you're coming down to the seattle area, i suggest you visit speedware motorsports where they have recaros and sparcos out on display and you can sit in all of them.
they are the official sparco dealer of this area and have nothing but my support due to their professionalism. btw, if you're interested in sitting in a Sparco EVO and not the EVO II, i have a Sparco EVO.

i don't think kirky seats are FIA cert. so to be safe you'd really have to run a seat back brace
