crank pully machining
i have a h23a1 engine in my lude. i am also a machinist w/ access to good machines. on my stock crank pully, would it be possible to shave off the power steering portion of the pully, maybe even drill the pully for further weight loss? does anyone know if this would work or better me or done this befor? i dont wanta junk the pully cutting it up. i was thinking that it may throw the balance of the pully off, or i would've done it by now.
There are several companies that do this. As long as you retain the stock balance of the pulley, I wouldn't see where any issues would arise... I say go for it!

ya, you should be fine. A local guy couldn't get the pulley off when putting a h22 in a crx, so they cut off the PS part with a hand grinder. Not pretty, but it worked fine. With a nice lathe, I bet yours will come out nice.
balbowskie187 this is your second topic on pullys. Leave them alone dont expect to get good power out of them. Spend your money wisely.
If you chopped off the power steering part, you should be fine. Get it done with a computer-controlled tool of some sort and the balance should be fine. I wouldn't go around punching holes in the pulley though.
