Default is it worth the trade?

My friend and I decided that we should trade cars. My car is a 90 CRX DX in pretty decent shape, lowered, full si interior, system, etc...my car runs minty.

My buddies ride is a 91civic DX with a b16a, canister muffler, wings west kit and is lowered as well.

The problem with his ride is that its not running right now. It was running before but now it isn't. Says its an electrical problem.

Is it worth the trade???

well if the motor is in good shape and you know how to fix the wiring or whatever then i think its def. worth the trade. A b16 hatch with I/E/H is a good start with a decent amount of power.

if you saw his car running in good condition and he did nothing, like over-rev or antifreeze or oil problems than its probably in good shape, people always **** up the wiring on the swaps cause they want to get it driving quick, im not saying this is what your boy did, but if you straighten out the electric and it runs right, that will be 100 times more fun than an ef with the best system in the world and a stock motor. just lose the paint can muffler and you'll be all set. you dont want em to know you got anything in there until you're screaming past them at 8k rpm.

to make yours as fast as a b16 youd have to save up a couple of thousand to get the motor and all the stuff to put it in, or a turbo ect... thats a lot compared to re-working the wiring harness for maybe a couple hundred dollars

sounds like a good trade to me. make sure that the problem is "just" an electrical problem though. i've heard "electrical problem" before when looking to buy my first Crx, and that problem was actually more related to a blown headgasket that the seller neglected to initially mention. lol.

the pros of your car are Si interior, lowered, and a nice sound system. the pros of his car are the mods along with the b16 swap. uhhh, yeah, i'd say it's worth it. lol. just fix the problem.

running crx vs mystery not running hatch?

if the rex has a good body, i'd keep it. that's worth more to me than the price difference for the b16.

sell your system and start savin for a swap .

if your rex is a pile, then i'd take a closer look at the wiring, be sure of what you were getting, and make the trade if everything checked out.

unless ur very knowledgable with hondas its not the best idea. u never know what is wrong with it and how much it will cost to fix. Sometimes its not even worth the hassle and better off sticking with ur car. Although it is a tough choice, because with the civic running u get a stronger motor in a decent looking car from the sounds of it. Good luck

lol! Remember those stickers that mocked Intel? There's one that says "VTEC inside" and also one that says "Satan inside".

...back on topic now. if the problem is electrical, then diagnose the problem starting with anything that can be related to that. if you can't figure it out, take it to a shop to diagnose the problem. there's idiots out there that claim their cars are home to electrical gremlins...when the reality is that they need to replace a fuse. heh.

clean running CRX > other hondas 1991 or older, running or not.

if it was that car plus about a grand to send out the harness to either rywire, jkobd or hasport to fix it, and you really like the way his car looks, then do it.

otherwise, hell no.
