6th gen tranny resisting shifts.....????
Well im back again for more advice and your knowledge....
My friend said thats the way all honda trannys are, here the problem sometimes i have to force it into 1st gear or reverce but if i need to put it into reverce and it doesent want to go i can just put it in 1st then reverce and it works...the thing is that only happens sometimes, at times its smoothe like butter for example 3rd and 4th are smoooooth but then at times they do have their small resistance that they create when i try moving the shifter...the tranny makes no grinding noises or anything of that matter just feels like there's resistance.....

is it a 6cyl? how many miles on it if it is. Honda has a 75K warranty on the trans 'cus they are crap compared to their other ones
Reverse isn't synchronized, because only a dumbass slams it in reverse while the car is moving. When you put it first your synchros mesh and rotate your gears ever so slightly, sometimes enough to let reverse mesh.
Reverse has the furthest to travel, so there is a lever to get the extra travel and not have extra throw on your shifter. Therefore reverse has the hardest throw.
Hope that clears things up for you, doesn't sound like you have any tranny problems to me.
Sometimes on my 96 EX it doesn't want to go in first if I'm sitting at a light, but I think that's cuz my psynchros are getting old. Not sure really cuz I bought it used, could just be a little quirk.

It's a 5sp, and the auto tranny warranty extension is 100K.
Anyhow, since reverse doesn't have a synchro the gears have to be lined up at a certain point for them to mesh, it is fairly common on older honda man. trans to have to do the 1st to reverse trick. It's usually only if you take it out of 1st, then release the clutch enough to start the gears spinning then put the clutch back in to put it into reverse while stopped, or go to N while still moving then try reverse. If you go directly from 1st to reverse without releasing the clutch at all you shouldn't have a problem as long as you leave it in 1st until completely stopped.
If it's hard to get into 1st you usually have a worn synchro or a clutch that is getting sloppy.
