I don't know which car I should get? The lighter 92-95 civic hatch, or the 96-98 hatch. I'm going to put the h22 swap in, so i know traction will be an issue. I was wonder what the widest tires are that cold fit under each set of years. and I was wondering if the 96-98 would really be a better ride with the swap. and if the chassis would be stiffer and more supportive on the 96-98. If you have some good info on this i'd really appreciate it. I want to make sure I make the right choice before i buy. I know the 92-95 is quite a bit lighter though so....

I also have another question. After buying the swap from passwordjdm.com for 3000 (comes with mounts, axles, shift linkage, plus the other attached components), what am I looking at for extra cost to get it running? I know i will need I/E/H. I'll need to make a little more room for the tranny. But what other parts will I need? And I forgot to add the H22 will be OBD1.

If the swap is costing you 3k from password, i would recommend going with hmo, because you can get it for about 6 hundred less (mine was 2480 shipped to my door; 300 more if you want LSD).

As far as chassis selection, if it were me, i would recommend the eg. There will be no conversion harness necessary with the eg unlike the ek. As far as a parts list, well thats already been covered up top, so you can just read that for yourself.

i would opt for the ed for the purpose stated above with the wiring, and also the eg engine bay has more space for the h22 than the ek. little more room to work with. but understeer is also a factor with the light chassis. good luck

 

I would definetly go with the eg, one reason it's lighter, 2 the wiring, 3, I think it looks better personally, and traction will be an issue for both the eg and ek models. You really can't go wrong with either model but you have a couple of extra pros than cons with the eg...

Did you get the complete swap or the motor, tranny, and ecu? Also are you happy with it? I saw with the complete swap you get the shift cables and all that. Let me know...

Thanks guys, Yeah I like the EG body style, too. I just wanted a few other opinions to see what you guys thought. Do any of you guys know the biggest size of tires you can fit under the EG? I heard the biggest you can fit without the front tires scrapping when you turn is 205's?

is this true?? i always thought since the ek's are 1.6's and the eg's are 1.5's, that the ek's bay would be bigger. someone correct me if im wrong....

 

eg's have 1.6 too heh

 

I'd also opt for the EG because its a lighter chassis and less hassle as far as wiring. Since your doing the H22 you wont be able to dump the car without scraping the header and oil pan and since you cant dump it you can really fit 215's under the fenders. I had 215/45/16 Azenis on my EG.
