Honda challenge question.
In transition from auto x to Honda challenge and would like some insight..
I have a CRX that i built up for the 04 GRM event ( yes the nuclear yellow one).
it has a B16a1 with a j1 trans, there is a y1 lsd in it with the 4.40 fd ratio.
on the dyno we put down 161hp and 109 in torque, now there is nothing but stock parts in the motor.
There are a few bolt ons, cold air,cam gears itr intake, etc.
The suspension is well set up with a 23mm rear bar 525 rear springs on coil overs
The front is 500 springs a solid k member with hind joints and the car handles very neutral and very quick.
The weight is in the 1700lb range.
It has a 6 point cage in it and is gutted out with a pair of Kirkey's in it..
What all would need to be done to make the jump to H1?
Thanks in advance..

Well the first thing most people will tell you is read the rules.

The obvious thing would be that the minimum weight in H1 with a B series motor is 2200lbs with driver. We have pretty small Honda Challenge fields here in Texas but we are growing. We race in the big bore group with the American Iron and Camaro/Mustang Challenge cars so there is always a few domestics to spank up on. Our next race is May 21st-22nd at Motorsport Ranch about 175miles north of you in Cresson, Tx. PM or email me if you need anything...

I have been in to the rule book on line i i saw the weight requirment ( which sucks).
I could be down to 1500 if i tried. As for the safty gear i am set up i just have not found any one in my area that has a clue about the HC class..

The 2100 lbs is with driver and gas. Post raced weight.

Still, the HC mins weights are very easy to hit in my experience. I'm adding 90# to my car right now which has next to no lightening done. 3 of our 4 H4 cars were underweight at the last event and none of them had any extra lightening beyond stripping the interior and useless motor parts.
Anyway, sounds like you're pretty close to H1. Just go through the rules and find the things that still need to be done. It's all there. You can carry up to 150# ballast weight in the passenger side foot well. That, plus driver should get you very close to min weight if you're currently at 1700#. Good luck.

im lost as to what your question is... if it is "is my car legal?" then read the rules and make sure you fallow them. If the question is "is my car competitive?" well that really depends on what the competition in your area is.
