Default Buddy club stage 4 users.........Are you running a Stock or Aftermarket Timing Belt?

Its just a hard decision to choose from. Ive heard both ends and ive seen both stock and aftermarket belts break on 200+ NA motors. I just want to do this right the first time. I want to hear feedback from "only" Buddy club stage 4 users.

Tbone?

I used stock T-Belt with Toda Spec C cams. THey have very similar big lobe lift and small lobe lift and duration. No problems at all. Just don't over or under tension.

Belt stresses out due to the pressure given by the valve springs. Cams don't play a role in timing belts breaking. That's what omniman told me.

But's you have to call a horse a horse. :-)

There would be no need for stressing valve springs if it were not for stressing cams. I think breaking timing belts have more to do with user install error than anything. But if I had to blame it on something mechanical I would blame it on ramp speed/angle of the cam.

the way i tighten a belt is that i get a coat hanger and bend it into a hook so i can grab the tensioner and pull the tensioner till the belt is tight then i tighten the tensioner.

Its always worked for me the easiest and no problems. Done it to several motors.

I’m not a fan of using stock timing belts with bigger aftermarket cams. PE belt for me
