Default how hard is it to swap a 96 accord v6 tranny.

I just need some input. Is it really all that different than a 4 cyl honda like a civic? Or are there special tools necessary to do the job? If you know and can fill me in i would appreciate it.

you will need to do the following after raising the car

1. brace the engine. you can rent one from a local auto store or maybe a trans shop if they rent them out.

2. remove all electrical connectors

3. remove drive axles by
a. taking off both front tires removing tire rods from wheels
b. remove ball joints from wheels
c. remove axles from trans *you can leave them attached to the wheels* (support them so the joints do not separate)

4. place hydraulic jack under trans with a 2 by 4 by 12 between trans and jack.

5. remove all trans to engine mounting bolts

6. loosesn trans mount bolts and either lower or raise trans enough to remove mount.

7. disconnect trans cooling lines

8. lower trans to remove from car

reverse to install new trans if it is the same type.

I appreciate the tips there, although i think it is a little off, your right on alot of things. I will be more specific. I have done alot of motor swaps in all differn't kinds of cars, alot of hondas though. I have never inspected a v6 96 accord under the hood. I know that the f22 fits in there nicely as i have worked on those before.. My question is this. Do i have to drop the complete knuckle on the pass side of the car to get the tranny out? What all is envolved that differ's from a 4 cyl accord tranny removal?

i'm sure somebody here has done it. There has to be at least one frequent flat rate mechanic in the accord forum. I just need to know how much to charge. How long and involved it is going to be. Does anybody have acess to a helms manual for that year accord?

the engine bay is completely different. you're better off finding a V6 accord. either that or do an H22 or TURBO!!!!!!
