will 5-6 psi own my stock internals?
ok so i have a 92 accord lx with F22A, my question is this. im planning to install my 14b turbo kit off an eagle talon and if im not mistaken they run at about 5-6 psi stock. for now i will be using the stock smic. will my stock internals be able to handle even that much boost? i dont plan on raising the boost either. thanx
yes you should be able to do that without problems, but before you try double check with a leakdown, and compression test to see how that turns out, and then make a decision
yes. the compression ratio is a good one for boost in those engines and they can handle ive herd of 8-10 pis on the stock motor.. just make sure it has good compression and a leak down like hot accord said
with that small of a turbo, you could probably even push more than 10 lbs...most turbo kits boost 8-10 lbs with a much larger t3-t04 without problems...and 10 lbs with that size turbo and 10 lbs with the smaller 14b are two different things...anyways, to answer your question, yes your motor will handle it just fine...
ok awesome thanx alot guys. i actually found out that the 14b wastegate is set at 8 psi. if anything ill install a mbc and maybe even lower it a few psi just to be safe. this is basically a project, kinda just to have a turbo accord and to kive it a lil extra kick. its an auto tranny btw.
im not familliar with checking compression and leak down. how do i go about that?

basically I do it like this... (other may do it differently... feel free to correct me if you want)
-get the compression tester.
-take off all spark plug wires completely ( mark their locations on the cap if your unsure about mixing up your firing order or whatnot ).
-pull the fuse for your fuel pump at the fuse box
-back out the spark plug of the cylinder you want to start checking at and screw in the end of your compression tester in its place.
-jump in the car, bump the motor over a good few times and record the readings on the gauge.
one by one do the other cylinders... then when your done, check your plugs to make sure they are tight, stick your fuel pump fuse back in, and plug wires back on... your ready to roll agian.

ok thanx for explaining the compression test to me. but wat should each cyl. read?
oh and one other thing, u guys were talkin about how my clutch can slip at 10 psi. my car in an auto so how will it affect that cuz i kno its a diff clutch than manual. i have plans in the future to do a tranny swap some time tho...5 spd is just more fun.

your auto tranny really won't like that turbo...it'll probably go out a lot faster than you expect...and tourque converter wasn't really made for all that extra power either, so it's likely to slip as well...

Na, his auto Tranny will be fine. Older version accords had long lasting, reliable trannys.

yeah i kinda thought that might happen. well id rather have a manual so maybe ill get a swap done...who knos? can any one give me a figure on about how much that might cost to get the conversion done?
