Type R and S2000 in same price range?
Well in an effort to narrow down my choices for a new car, I have accidentally added another one to my list. I just realized that the 2000 S2000 is right in the same price range as a 98/00 R. Now I've read almost every post here about how the R is a more "raw" car and tha the S2000 just doesnt "feel" as good as the R. My question is that should I consider buying the S2000 or just continue to look for the R as well as the other cars on my list?
TIA
TIA
They are two very different cars.
S2000:
- Provides open-top motoring
- "Cute"
- Will be prohibited from some track events due to its open top
ITR:
- Holds a crapload of stuff
- Has a backseat for dogs, kids, even an adult or two in a pinch
- Much better traction in wet and wintry conditions
They're both great cars - all depends on what you're looking for.
Not on winter roads, it's not.

FR setup is very nice.

If you can get a S2K that cheap - I would wonder about it's condition - but otherwise jump at the chance.
Your insurance will probably be higher for the S2K though. If you are a younger driver this is probably your biggest consideration.

I'd still get the R
not sure if he's sold his yet, but Cyberorth may still have his for sale. Pristine 98 for just under 18K
yoshi - who may be biased towards the R after deciding not to get an st00k

As for the list on ITR charateristics... who cares about wet traction?

I agree with Ken... but #1 & #3 on S2000 charateristics can be changed with some $$$.

My brother races his S2000 in the Poconos and all he needs to race with the top down are arm restaints and a helmet. Hundred bucks or so.
Thanks for the responses guys. Unfortunately, whatever car I decide to get will be my daily driver. I no longer have the luxury of having a beater. I am paranoid as it as about my gs-r, but I refuse to live in a cage just because thieves exist. The way it looks so far is that the R is my best bet. I really want a sports car for not too much money, and I belive the R to be the most bang for the buck. My only other options are the camaro SS, firebird ws6, or (and I hate to say this), a 99 mustang saleen.

BTW, a used 2000 S2000 usually sells for thousands more than an ITR...

My insurance is ~2200 on the R.........would have been ~1200 for the S2k.
Remember who buys (and steals) these cars.
I pay 600*2 for the ITR and the s2k is going to be 700*2 annually.

The 3 year differnece in our cars probably has a little to do with that, but not that much.
