Default questions on a 200+whp daily driver setup??

i wanted to go with either crower 402's or 403's depending on how streetable the 403's are. would the 403's be too harsh for daily driving? im also going with full crower valvetrain as well.

i would also like to know wat would be a good piston to get the full potential out of those cams and would also be streetable?? i was thinking about ctr pistons but couldn't really find a clear answer as to if they were a daily driveable piston...?

this would all be going in my 00 ITR and my overall basic goal is to hit 200whp+ and be able to run high 13's to low 14's if possible, while still being daily driven 40+ miles a day.

i plan to tune this whole setup with a Power FC if that helps any.

any suggestions/comments would be great, so basically if you don't have anything positive to add, please don't post at all!!

Thanks. Alex.

Tell me youre ******* kiddnig. Does "your friend" have a c16 pump in his garage? This kind of mis-info screws up alot of builds out there...

Yes you can daily drive on CTR's but (puts flame suit on) your tuneability will be compromised some, due to the lesser amount of ignition advance you will be able to run. Whenever possible, the flattest piston top available is the best to go with. ITR's, or p30's are probably your best bet if you plan on running on 91 octane.

Do you have the specs of the cams you will be running handy?

I'm running the 403's on 12.5:1 compression in my b20-vtec. Motor is almost done getting put back in the car. Running hondata though. It'll hopefully be driven on the streets once and a while if i can run 93 octane.

I ran 403's in my GSR w/ 12.5 to JE's and eagle rods and made 201 whp on pump gas. They are very streetable and have a very broad powerband. I also made 136 wtq, not bad for a 1.8.

ok so you guys are saying that the 403's are streetable? i talked to crower today at work and he said that the 403's will suck on the street because the primary and secondary lobes are bigger than stock and don't idle very well? im wondering that if it's tuned well that it would run/idle better. could someone chime in on this?

If you have huge lobes, tuning just cant cover it all up.

The idle is a little lumpy, but definately streetable. I promise I drove the car on several trips for 300+ miles and 200 mile round trips to the track and back. I also drove it in stop and go traffic in town and never any problems.

so do you think after i tune it with a power fc, it would run ok? also had another question, do you think that i would get better numbers with the rocket m22x setup?

As far as tuning helping with streetability, yes. As far as more power with Rocket's setup, I don't know.

Where do people get off on thinking that most shelf stock cams are "unstreetable"?

If anyone here actually thinks that the Crowers, Buddy Club, Toda or whatever are unstreetable, then you should do yourself a favor and buy some first gen auto b16 cams. Nice smooth idle for your ultra sensitive pansy ***.

yea the tune will make or break ur set up, so thats important. As far as the Rocket setup. I like the Crowers myself, but thats just my opinion. do some research. Crower 404's are suposed to make 30 whp and a good tune and with the proper settings.

do you have any links or specs on the 404's? are they a custom re-grind? i dont see them on the crower website and we don't sell them at my work...?

I think 404's are non-vtec cams
