Actually, the OUTER portion of the Prelude axels are the same, the inner portion is not. What you can do though is take your stock axels and go to the junkyard and pick up some Prelude axels. Take those both to a machine shop and have them stick the prelude out section on your stock inner section and you've got your axels.

So I can't go to my local auto parts store and say " I need 97+ prelude axles" get them and swap them right in???

That is correct. 97+ prelude axels will not fit. The... crud... what is it called... the doohickey that connects to the transmission (that's a technical term... write that down ) won't fit into a B-series transmission.

But the prelude uses the same outer 36mm hub as the 98+ JDM ITR, just not the same inner portion nor the same length.
