Default How to easily remove passenger airbag (96-00 civic)

I was trying to remove my passenger airbag last night and couldn't get it out. Of course, this is after removing the 3 screws that hold it in and unplugging the wire connector. The problem is that there are a bunch of fasteners that hold the SRS cover to the dash.

I read all the archived info last night and the general consensus was that you had to either take apart the entire dash or just damage it and rip out the airbag. After dicking with it for about twenty minutes last night, I gave up and went to bed.

I went out again today to give it another shot. Except that now it's 2pm and the inside of my car is about 1,000,000,000 degrees celsius. The airbag metal was so hot that I was getting burned just touching it. So I put on some gloves and tried once again to push the airbag up and out thru the dash. To my surprise, it came out like warm butter. No damage done. All the dash plastic is so hot that it just bends and flexes like taffy which allowed the fasteners to just pop out.

Just sharing what might be useful to someone someday.
