Default How To: Bling Bling your Interior - Goodbye faded Carpet

I'm in the process of redoing my interior... and the carpet is of course dirty and faded. Solution?

1) Remove Carpet

2) Pressure Wash Carpet... use only OEM Honda Pressure Washer of course. This one has 720cc injectors and AEM EMS management of course.

3) Dry Carpet at local laundry mat on LOW heat (won't melt the plastic coatings)unless you don't mind getting sand in the one you own. Let this dry in the sun for a few hours if it is still damp.

4) Buy Plasti-Kote Fabric Color ($5.49/can). I used 'ebony' because I likes to keep it real.

5) Evenly spray old carpet and let it dry. After is at bottom and before is at top. This is with only 1 coat. I plan on adding another and finishing up the other side.

I wondered about staining as well... the answer is no. I did a test after the 'paint' dried for 20 min. I even wet a rag and went over it... no black residue.

On a side note, it makes the carpet a little stiffer to the touch. To counter this just take a brush and go over the carpet. It feels normal after that

I figure for under 6 dollars you can't beat it. The prelude floors are a bit grey and by making it black the interior looks MUCH cleaner in my opinion.

That is NOT a Honda. The torque curve is still too impressive.

Not sure... I'm going to let it airdry for about 3 days before I throw the interior back in. I also painted the rear seats because they were faded REALLY bad.

This surprisingly REALLY turned out nice looking. I'm pretty damn amazed to be honest with you guys. The dried seats don't feel AS soft... but I figure after they are dried 100% I'll take a brush to them to free up the 'clumped' hairs of fabric.

By the way... that pressure washer is a stroker engine.

Let us know about the smell after you reinstall the carpet. If there is no smell, and apparently no paint residue, I will definitely do this. My carpet is far past done.

Seriously, nice writeup.

I hate having faded blue carpet, I might do that this summer and change over to black.

Thanks for the info, I didn't know it could be done.
