alright guys and gals,

Took delivery of my new B-Series OBX oil pan and I have to say I'm pretty impressed, Real nice welds sturdy construction, overall a real nice looking unit.

For the $200 price tag I got, the oil pickup and new mounting hardware. Not a Bad deal at all consideting it would be well over $300 for the moroso unit with the same hardware or about $200 at honda.

However fitting the unit was not just a bolt in affair, a little work was required to get it to fit, but nothing someone with a dremel can't do. the holes did not quite line up to the block uppon test fitting, so about 20 minutes later and a little bit of grinding, everything fit fine.

Pros
- oil pickup included (with the one I got anyways)
- 5 quart Capacity
- Baffled with trap doors
- Pre welded bungs for oil temp and oil return
- New mounting hardware
- Nice thick aluminum used
- Very nice looking peice
- good value

Con
- not a "bolt on" Fitting, some modification may be required
- does not come with any stickers (not that I want them but...)

So overall This is a nice product. some finessing might be required to get everything to fit, more oil is always a good thing, also keeping the oil where it needs to be it's well wort the price. considering an stock oil pickup and oil pan would cost roughly the same price.

Looks good. welds might not be as pretty as compared to a Moroso but I had a D-series Moroso and it leaked from a weld. Got BS from Moroso customer service so for the money and quality I wouldn't buy a Moroso oil pan again.

 

did it come with bungs to plug the holes?

my oilpan is got a dent/gash in it and i think i leak oil b/c it's not seated good on the block anymore, but i'm n/a for now.

how about fitment w/xmember and radius rods and how low will it hang?

 

how thick is that aluminum? how well is it giong to hold up against a dent, or maybe running over something.

Those welds look like *** from what i can see.

they way they weld it makes it look home made, but looks alright..

i won't buy obx after things i've had experiance with from them..

Nice aluminum Weld should look like a row of Nickles on an angle, it's where all the strengh is from. the pan look identical to my friends Moroso he got.

the oil pan is not on the car yet so clearence question will need to wait.

yes the pan come with the Bung caps, they needs a little locktight to make sure they don't leak or fall out.

it will be about t month t'il it's together and in the car

I filled the pan with Water to make sure it did not leak, only leak was fron the Bungs, need a little silicone or teflon tape to stop the leak.

How did you do that ? Did you fill the whole engine up with water ? I really hope not

Nothing wrong with a fram oil filter, as long as your changing your oil on time.

 

no I just filled the pan itself for 5 mins... as for the top welds we will have to see

a bit off topic, but fram filters cap the filter ends on the inside with cardboard. thats why i don't trust them.

Well I only asked because there is really no way to tell if some of the welds sealed properly unless the oil pan was on the engine. And did you check the main surface for any type of uneven ness.

 

Sorry, but for the money I'd go Monroso. That thing looks like someone in Jr Hi got hold of some flat stock and a welder.

To each their own...

 

the second bung is not for an oil temp sender soley, its used for a dry sump oil. and second Fram makes Honda's OEM filters. but you should be using the s2000 filter anyways(made in japan) still avail at the dealer.

These finally shipped? I ordered one like 2 years ago..

Looks like garbage.. I bet a revised version wil be out soon. OBX is good like that.

But this has been in their catalog for a long time. I assumed they would NEVER ship.
