Hey guys I'm in the matket for some new tires. Yokohama avs es100 --OR-- Falken Azenis rt615??
What would be the better choice of the two and why?
I know there's a bit of price diffence but, azenis is stickier too but what worth more for the money. Which would do better for daily driven??

Azenis all the way, ES100's suck no matter what unless you want a long lasting hard tire

I had the ES100s. The best thing about them was selling them with my shitass Rotas. Horrible tire for anything performance oriented. Took them to many autocrosses and a day at Streets of Willow and it was disappointment after disappointment. They even felt pretty vague and unsettling on the street. I'll probably get another set one day because I have one tire left as a spare.

As far as the Azenis go, I have nothing but good things to say about the 215. Can't wait until the 615 is available in real 16" sizes. Far superior tire to the Yoko's, though...

Never seen so much hate on the ES100's. I have had both on my Si and I would have to say strictly for DAILY DRIVING PURPOSES I don't think there is a comparison. I had azenis worn out in way less 10k miles compared to around 15k with the ES100's. Another thing I HATED about the azenis was the fact that when it rained you litterally slid around on very little amounts of water. I am not sure where you live but this scared the **** out of me on many occasions considering I live in south Florida and it rains quite often.

Most places I have looked into the NEW azenis is about $20 more on average than the es100's

I've had 712s, Falkens and ES100s. As a performance tire, the ES100 is a poor choice. They aren't bad in the rain, though; a bit quieter than 712s.

Longevity (3000# car) is disappointing.

I'm kinda surprised you're comparing these two. For all out performance get the Azenis. I'm not sure I'd get the ES100s if I didn't want performance.

These are two totally different tires. It depends on what you care about:

Dry traction/handling: Azenis RT-615 (by a huge margin)
Wet traction/handling: ES 100 (by a huge margin)
Treadlife: ES 100 (2-3 times as many miles)
Cost: ES 100 ($59 for 195/55-15 ES100 vs $92 for 205/50-15 RT-615)

The Azenis costs anywhere from three to five times as much on a cost-per-mile basis, when you take into consideration the difference in treadlife. If you don't mind the cost difference and you only care about dry performance, get the Azenis. If you don't care enough about dry performance to spend the extra money, get the ES100.

ES100s last a long time but they don't stick as long as the Azenis. When ES100s get down to about 25% they start to really suck and loose grip.

Super street or some mag just had a shoot out recently among all the major tire brands offering performance street tires for SCC. Yokahama's rated last compared to like 6 brands including Good years,Michelins, Kumhos, BF's, Continental, Falkens, etc.
Interestingly they even rated shitty in the wet test. And to my Suprise the RT-615's came in like 2nd place

The Yokohama tire tested in that article was the AVS Sport, not the AVS ES100. And the AVS Sport is in the process of being replaced as Yokohama's top of the line tire.

look like I might go with the Azenis

I want to know from your personal experience?
If you have own both of the azenis and es100, please let me know which you enjoy more for daily drive?
BTW I might do some 1/4 mile with these tires too. but not too much 1/4 race...maybe 1 or 2 a yr.

I have the old Azenis Sports and they are far superior in everything but standing water and treadlife. Looks like I'll get at least 15K out of the Azenis and I had 30K on a set of ES100s but they start to suck around 22K miles or so. The 615s are better according to many so it really wouldn't be a hard choice for me.

I had both. In my case living in Florida the chance of rain is pretty good so I say ES100's. Also considering I am a 21 year old student the performance/longevity is a big factor on my budget.

ES100's --- my choice

Ive had two sets of ES100's in 205/50-15's and a set in 16's
Ive owned three sets of the older Azenis in "15 and currently own a set in "16
In all the Sizes I personally like the Falkens all around. And I hear rave reveiws on the new 615's, They're alot better than the old azenis so i cant wait to try a set out. But if you just want an ok tire that last long go with the ES's

I just got the Falken Rt-615 on today. I love em. Haven't had a big chance to put them thru the rigors yet but so far sooooo goood. I've had Toyo T1S, Nitto 555. Various Yoko's and the Falkens definately get a big thumbs up.

definitley the Falken, you might also want to look at the Pirelli P-zero nero M/S, they are real nice tires....

Rated the best tire, read reviews, and road test results....

And also here, check the reviews......

I have had both, and they are both great tires.....

unfortunately with tires, you can have 5 people drive the same tire set up and get 5 different answers

working for Discount Tire Direct I have the opportunity to try out a lot of different tires ( as a matter of fact, I am getting ready to test some Goodyears today)

From my experience, the Yokohama es100 is a great tire for all around use

I have used it as my daily driver tire in 205-50-15, 205-45-16, and 205-40-17..good wet traction and good dry grip as well.

I used the es100 for track days at Buttonwillow twice, and was amazed by its performance ...really impressed FOR A STREET TIRE

As for the falken RT-215 (sport)...205-50-15
the level of dry grip is hard to beat......but it doesn't last very long, and I hated the wet traction of the tire.

I will be evaluating the new 615 in the next week or so.

Those are all-season tires. They might be okay if you're looking for a tire that will be okay on snow and in frigid temperatures (but not as good as a true winter tire). But if winter weather performance isn't a concern for you - like if you have a separate set of winter tires, which you probably do - there are better choices around.
