keyless entry remote won't work if car interior is hot
i have the clifford matrix 3.5 with remote start and the 2 way pager. i've noticed that if my car is out in the sun and the interior heats up too much the reciever inside the car won't read the signal from my pager. it's really weird & i can't figure out why it is doing this.. i have to park in the shade when i can and leave my windows cracked and usually that will do the trick. but if it doesn't i have to use the key and my alarm goes off. anyone ever have this problem or have any ideas how to fix this?? i already moved the reciever from the standard windshield mount to under my sun visor on the headliner..

All DEI alarms, [Clifford is one of them] come with a liftime warranty on everything except the remotes, and as your problem seems to be in the parts in the car, [brain and ant.] just take it back to where you got it and have them fix it.

a common problem with all remote starts and security is that in the programming they only program the units to work in a certain temperature. with autostarts in the northwest we have -40F - 90F, or somewhere around there. the lower the temp the unit will work at the more it cuts into the high temprature which is most likely your problem.
funny mine started doing this recently i would arm my car and come back to it unlocked but the alarm goes off when open.
i could arm and un arm but the doors dont actually lock or unlock.

hm.. well at least someone has the same problem as me. still cant figure it out.. if i use the key to get in and open up all the windows while the alarm is going off and let the sender cool off then try to disarm it works.

</TD></TR></TABLE>Your problem is probably a cold solder joint someplace in the RF section of the alarm, ant., ant. connection, or in the RF section inside the alarm brain, when things heat up, they expand, that is probably what is happening with your alarm, the circuit board heats up and expands and brakes a connection, and when things cool down again the connection is good again, this is not an uncommon problem with car elec.

BTW The only way to fix it, is to find the cold solder joint and resolder it, this can be hard to do, as they, [the solder joints] are very small, if you want to try it you will need a solder pencil, very fine tip, some 60/40 resin core solder and a good magnifing glass, pull the board out of the alarm case, flip the board over to the solder side, and start looking at the connections through the mag. glass, start looging around where the ant. is connected to the board, when you see a cold solder joint you will know it, the other thing you can do is just resolder the connections, you will not need to add very much solder, [if any] just touch the clean tip of the solder pencil to the connection till it melts the solder the pull it away, to keep the tip clean, [very important] just wipe the tip on a wet sponge, adding a little new solder to it every once in a wile, and wiping it off on the sponge, you can get a solderpencil that will work for $10-$20 ar RadioShack, if you don't have one, [just let them know what you want it for]

ahh but you are so so wrong.
what you speak of is a cold start, which is a temp sensor that goes onto the radiator hose and detects when the coolant reaches a certain temperature and then starts the car to warm the motor.
i've installed hundreds of autostarts and have spoken to the engineers that make them many times, and yes they do program temp limits into them.
