Default Looking for fuel pressure experts. (fuel pressure not holding)

My car is running pretty lean, I got a cel for code 45 71 73 74. A while back, after I installed a B&M reg and fuel pressure gauge, I noticed I would still have fuel pressure after trunning off my car. But now when I turn off my car, the pressure drops to zero. It also does this when I turn the key to ign. The pressure would go to 39 then after you here the fuel pump stop it drops back to zero. I replaced the intank fuel pump, and it did not help. I put a new fuel reg and it did not help. I took off the FMU to see if it was causing it and it did not help either.

What can cause the pressure to drop. All the plugs show lean and I do not smell gas leaking any where.

Can this cause it.

Its a 98 civic, with B16A2 vortech supercharged. Kit came with an inline fuel pump, I can hear this one and it is working.

I forgot to mention it, but I did that when I took off the FMU. Thanks for the suggestion.

Does it read zero right after driving around? I noticed a while back, that after I just finished running the car, I could turn off the engine and it would still have pressure. It would slowly loose pressure (around 1hour till it got to zero). Maybe it’s normal and I had a problem before. But I'm still having problems burning lean.

Can you reed fuel pressure while driving under load, if so what does it do. I dont like the B&M fpr, nothing but bad issues with that device. Do you still have your stock fpr, and if so does that also have issues with you running lean.

I cant the gauge is ontop of the filter. I thought it was the FPR so I replaced it with a Holley one. I was talking with a guy at my work, he thinks it could be the gas cap.

gas cap has nothing to do with losing fuel pressure. you mean its at 0 while you're drivine around? replace the gauge.

I can't see the gauge while driving around, but when at idle and revving the engine I have pressure. While revving, it increases a little.

I have ok power until vtec comes on then it feels like I’m losing power. When vtec comes on it should increase pressure, but I don’t think it is.

I've been having this problem for awhile. It use to not be that bad but its been getting worse. When Im low on fuel the car feels like its going to die, the gas light does not come on. I haven’t ran it out of gas, also when the gas is low its harder to start.

When you turn your key to ign does your fuel pressure stay pressurized? Mine will pressurize then after a few seconds (you can hear the fuel pumps turn off) it drops to zero.

I found the problem. The new FPR is also bad. I took the one off my other car and the fuel pressure was staying pressurized.

Thanks for helping.

when i first installed mine, the spring was on the wrong side of the diaphram- making it do the same thing.

But even now fixed, as soon as i shut my car down, it goes to 20psi and sometimes 0, maybe they are junk
