LS/Vtec - gsr or jdm b16 head?
i used to run a na ls block with a b16 jdm 1st gen head. i loved the setup. i still have the setup but also have a new gsr head. im curious what is the better head to run with turbo. head will be stock with ctr cams. i have not felt the ls vtec with a gsr head so im clueless how it performs. thanks
The GSR head with give you slightly higher compression due to the combustion chamber. The differences between the B16 and GSR heads are minimal, if you already have the GSR head use it.
I don't know exactly what the difference in flow between the two is, but I've heard the b16 head flows better.
But the GSR head appearts to have better ports as far as the approach to the valve is concerned (compared to the 1st gen b16 one).
How are you planning to run ctr pistons/vtec head on boost ?

the GSR head will yield Higher compression ratio in stock form over the PR3 head, because the GSR head has a squared off combustion chamber. this improves the quench area, reducing chances for hot spots, and detonation. people usually have the combustion chambers welded when they have head work done to the PR3 head. the GSR head is harder to find VS the PR3 head so the price is affected, and not many people have them (GSR) so if you can get one without breaking the bank get it.
