Another DAMN starter problem... 90-93 DA9/6s
I'm pretty sure this topic belongs in this kinda category.... anyway..
Alright guys, to get straight to the point, YES I did use the search function. Results were mainly F/S Integra Starter ... WTB Integra Starter.... Will starter fit on 96 tranny.. etc... no help.
Okay, so here's the story. I went to work... started fine. Went to mom's work to drop off check. Started fine. When I was just about to leave for work... started car, light went on, turned over the key... no result. No crank, no click.
I managed to push start that bitch & worked. But on the ride home, I had bad idle that was almost nearly shutting off my car.
Went home, turned off car. TRIED starting again. No results. It was like everytime I wanted to turn over, it was like I turned off the car.
I mostly believe the problem is within the starter motor or it's relay. So I tried taking that son of a crackhead out, the two long bolts that held the motor... BUT!! There was this wire connection that I wasn't able to disconnect. There's seems to be a "bracket-like" metal on another piece that seemed to be connecting to the mysterious wire that I couldn't disconnect.
So for those who changed their starters by themselves, what methods did you use? I couldn't use my Haynes Manual because that bible was torned up when it got caught in the California rainy season. If you know what wire I'm talking about, how the hell did you take it out?
Any HELP would be greatly appreciated. I know I'll get a lot of ... "Did you get your alternator checked? Or did you change the battery?" .... The alternator isn't no older than 3 months old and the battery is nearly 2 months old. So that leaves the son of a beetch starter motor.
IF you can, can you guys give me some "DIY" websites that show how to replace that devilish device called the starter motor?

Hit the starter with a broom handle or something while someone tries it. If that works, the starter is on it's way out.
You could check the small signal wire on the starter... It's supposed to get battery voltage when you turn the key to 'start'. If not, then you can check for a flaky ignition switch or the starter interlocks. Those interlocks depend on whether it's a manual or auto. It's interlocked with a switch on the clutch pedal (manual) or on the shifter lever (auto).

it would be easier to pull the whole starter out and then just have it tested at autozone or something than to just take off the relay. believe me i tried to take out just the relay.
the thing that troubles me is your bad idle while the car was running. might be your alternator because once the car is on it runs all the electrical and in turn isnt charging your battery which isnt giving enough juice to power your starter.
