Map sensor...where the plug goes on the harness.
Hey don't laugh, but apparently my map sensor was NEVER hooked up in my car since I've bought it. The plug may still be somewhere in the engine compartment, but me and my mechanic friend want to know WHERE the plug would go on the harness before we start to screw around with anything.
Specifically, we need some pictures because they are the best way to deal with this. Any help would be appreciated otherwise.
By the way, the car is the 1995 Honda Prelude VTEC with the H22 engine.
Thanks in advance.

It is most definitely the map sensor. The sensor itself is still there, but the "plug" and all related parts thereafter are missing.
I have had this verified by several different people.
This is a shock to me because the car runs fine, drives fine, goes fine, but guzzles gas. I did the quarter in just over 15. They're telling me I should be doing it in the low 14s with the mods I have done.

The MAP sensor will cause it to absolutely guzzle gas, plus I couldn't really get it to run right rolling onto the throttle.
IIRC, there's a "branch" from the harness that runs along the back of the motor, hookin up the oil pressure sensor, knock sensor, IATV, etc. It should stick out from that......I'm not sure exactly where at along it, though.

I'm getting around 26 mpg on the highway, going about 73. That seems excessively low for a 4 cylinder, even if the gearing is short.
The only thing I can think of is that there is another map sensor somewhere that the previous owner had installed.

What is a TB?
No check engine lights have come on.
Also, my car shoots out a horrendous cloud of black smoke when I get into high rpms. My friend says its unburnt fuel. I'm a little concerned because the car does use some oil. A lot of people are telling me it's perfectly normal for the car to shoot out smoke and burn oil. But it does not seem like it should be doing that. Any suggestions?

yeah, I know that, just giving him suggestions, somebody who owned the car before him could've swapped a TB onto the motor with the MAP on top of the TB.
TB= throttle body.

many of the sensors run the same voltage, so his car can run ok if its plugged into another sensor that gives out around the same readings, i cant really think off hand of where a round 3 wire plug would go other than the map sensor, evap purge solenoid, iab, knock sensors all use the round connector but with 1 or two wires, try lookin at those??? look for white/blue and blue/white wires, when u find where they lead to that is the map sensor, there will also be another wire but i dont know what color it is

Should we be getting more than 26 MPG on the highway? I have a 94 VTEC, and thought that 26 MPG was pretty good.

oil burning is common, especially if u use vtec a lot, also check for oil leaks like cam seals which burn off on the head and header so you wouldnt drip anything really...but you wouldnt burn oil due to the map sensor
I hardly ever use vtec because the oil burns off when I do use it. The compression is fine; i had that tested when I bought the car.
Someone mentioned something about cleaning the vtec solenoid but I've never heard of somebody doing that.
