Acura 17" Wheels on 2004 Accord LX?
I'm looking to replace the 15" wheels and wheel covers that came on my 2004 Black Accord. Does anyone know if I could replace them with the stock wheels and tires from a 2004 Acura TL? The accord tires are 205/65/15 and the TL tires are 235/45/17. Both wheels are 5 bolt but I'm not sure they will fit. There are a few sets of wheel and tires from TLs on eBay. Please help!!
I believe they will bolt up and should fit. If you get them, drive down Kirk Rd. in Austintown and beep your horn so I can check them out
235 width tires seem a little wide for an accord IMO, but thats just me......check out the previous gen 17" acura TL wheels while you are wheel shopping.........
i think that will look nice
im almost certain it should work, i believe they are both 5x114.3 bolt pattern.
235 is wide, but the wider the better, right? but if you're trying to keep everything working like the day you brought her home, you're going to want a different set of tires of these rims. the tl rims+tires will be larger than your current LX setup.
by my calculations, a 205/65/15 is 20.25inches in diameter, from very bottom to very top. the tl rims+tires 235/45/17 are 21.16inches in diameter. as a result, you will be .455inches higher off the road, and your fender gap will also decrease by .455. an additional effect is that your speedometer will consistently read slightly slower than you're actually going, so be careful with that. related to that issue is that your odometer reading is slightly less than it should be, and your gas mileage will appear to decrease more significantly than it actually does.
another concern that i personally had with putting 17's on my 7th gen is that it may void suspension warranty. check with your dealer to be sure. if you want to use 17's, get 215/40/17 or 225/35/17 for an equal diameter as your current setup. alternatively, get 16's with 215/50/16 or 205/55/16.
of course, you can ignore all this nonsense and just get your bigger wheels. i personally like to keep things they way they were intended to be. happy hunting!
btw, welcome to H-T!

i used to work for a dealership, and i've never heard 17 inch rims voiding any kind of warranty before.
like everyone said, 235 is a bit wide. i've heard of some people running them... half have problems rubbing, half don't...

Thanks for the replies everyone. Maybe I'll just watch for some 16" wheels and tires from a Honda Accord EX. They don't look too bad. There shouldn't be any size difference with them. Or is there a difference between the LX and EX wheels and tires?
Trending Topics
LX v6 and EX should be the same 16"s, but you may want to double check that. LX i4 comes with 15"s.. 205/65/15. LXv6 and EX i believe come with 205/60/16. on the 7th gen i believe both sizes are made my michelin. MXV4. crappy tires, get new ones if u have the money ;D
should be fine. I have 225/45/17's on 17x7 in wheels on my 2004 accord lx. They have a 37mm offset and the factory Acura wheel dimension is very very close to that. The ride quality is MUCH improved and the 17's are quiet on the highway.
Does having 18" tires on my accord make it SEEM like my mpg is worse or actually make it. I've been wondering, it seems like it's sharply decreased.
both. you're spinning around more weight, but you've also messed up the intended oe wheel+tire diameter. do the math if u want to figure out exactly how much you threw off the diameter by.
