Default Tons of Build Up on Pistons and Ports

I'm prepping my car for turbo by installing some arp head studs and while im at it im putting in a new headgasket and timing belt. I knew i was going to have some build up in my pistons and ports but i think i have way too much.

Basically, im asking, is this normal? When i took my intake manifold off it had oil in there. Im thinking that i added to much oil. Thus, it vented out of my valve cover, then into my intake pipe, then into the intake mani and finally in the engine itself.

Im thinking of scraping it off carefully and spraying it with something or is there something better i can do?? Or is there some type of spray designed for **** like this?

I used a can of Mopar combustion chamber conditioner (sprayed in the TB with the engine running) to get rid of that, the stuff works wonders. I believe the Seafoam stuff you pour in the brake booster hose works equally as good.

What engine is that, and what's the mileage? From your description, I was expecting worse.

What kind of engine and miles? Doesn't look too terrible to me. Those valves look about normal for a motor with 80,000 or so miles on it. Maybe running a tad on the rich side. Run a couple treatments of seafoam through it once you get it all back together. I wouldn't start scraping at it. You might make burrs and scratches that can lead to hot spots and detonation.

If it's never been treated before, I would say that looks about right for that kind of mileage.
