Default Rebuild my Garrett GT-30

I am starting to have side to side play in my turbo so I want to get it rebuilt,,,,,
I was told that they only sell the sealed bearing cartrige for my model turbo and its 1400$ CA to get new bearings....

Is this tru? at that cost I should just buy a percision sc61

any suggestions??
thanks
Tyler

I believe they rebuild Garrett GT turbos... not sure about the prices though. I have a Garrett GT25R, and mine has the beginnings of side to side play in the shaft. I'm not worried about it for now though...

UP for a fellow Canadian

Damn what did you do get play in one of those turbos there meant to be extremely reliable... You could by a brand new one for that price.

Maybe I don't know what's normal... I'm still kind of new to the whole FI picture... that's why I'm not worrying about if for now. People don't really know too much about these turbos... either that or they're reluctant to share info with newbs like me.

probably 90% of the turbos I've seen have some side to side play, it's pretty normal, like was said above, when the wheel starts rubbing the housing it's time for a rebuild.

i think its just the way that the dual ball bearings work...
