Early Eclipses like mine were known for warping rotors on a trip to the grocery store. I got a set cryo treated from Carbotech and after 2+ years they are as straight as the day I bought them. They even did a weekend at CMP, the graveyard of brake systems.

Two thumbs up. I don't know how it works but it seems to do the trick.

ive never hashed a set of rotors. I just be carefull of puddles if I'm using my brakes aggresively. I think the car wash can be one of the harder things on rotors. Cryotreating rotors is a no brainer. Between rotors and valve springs, it's dirt cheap unless you're doing a block. Cryo treated engines are supposed to run cooler, so I should imagine your brakes will too.

this is something i always forget about, but if If/when I do my cams I'll try and remember to get it cryo'd first. What can it hurt?

WE got Tony's (NASA Pace Car Driver's S10 pickup) rotors cryoed because he was chewing up everything in site.

MY daughter's rotors on her Toyota Corolla were also done. At the end of a full SCCA racing season, there was NO wear at all. And she has no probelms with the gas or brake pedals.

Now comes the question... does anyone know WHY it works? I'm not doubting that it doesn't work, b/c obviously the experiences posted here vouch for its validity, but I find it amusing that I've never seen a scientific process as to exactly what happens in the metal when it is cryo-treated that improves its qualities so much for our applications.

Call Bill - He is an engineer who studied the process for years before deciding this is a business he wanted. He will take you step-by-step through the process.

And he explains it so the average person understands what he is saying.

Well here is my story
I was installing a stereo in my friends 89 crx, when we finished he shut his hood
well we took it out for a ride to check the stereo, we came to a stop sign when I decided it would be a good idea to see how well the stereo drowned out wind noise I hit about 70 when the hood wrapped over the roof
my hood is still out on loan

Ouch! How did the roof look?

here is my "hood flying up" story

My black hood is actually a all fiberglass piece thats only held on with hood pins...weighs about 10 pounds.

There I am in the pits waiting to go out on the track, about 20 min before I was checking my oil and someone had come over to ask me something so I put the hood down (thinking I would come back and tinker under my hood) I didn't close the pins blah blah blah. Anyway come back after talking ,strap in accelerate out of the pit 20km and SMACK the hood just wrapped around the windsheild.Good thing you could bend the hood in half and it wouldn't crack, get out of the car looked at all the peeps laughing at me, locked the hood down and went out. No damage thank god, needless to say those pins got a lot of attention after as well my dash got a CHECK PINS sticker.
