Brembo blanks vs. Kragen rotors
Are brembo blanks better then rotors I can get from Kragen? I need to replace my rotor and The ones I got from Kragen didn't last very long. I bought cheapies last time and I don't want to make that mistake again. My other option is some cross drilled rotors, probably brembos too.

Re: Brembo blanks vs. Kragen rotors (4doorex)
brembo, or power stop they are brembo rotor's.
bought a set of power stop rotors when i did the 11" brake swap and when i got them i was checkn it out and it said brembo the a part number on the side of the rotor. most likely "kragen" rotors are made by some one else.
why didn't you get your rotors turned?

I know Brembos are better, I guess my question is why? What makes Brembos so special? Do they dissapate heat better, last longer, or is it the name?
The rotors have been turned once already and they need to be turned again. How often do you guys go through rotors? I swear it's been less then a year and I need rotors again.

Re: Brembo blanks vs. Kragen rotors (leadtrum)
I would'nt buy anything with the drilled holes in them. Only get rotors with the holes in them if they are cast that way. The heating/cooling of the rotors cause little cracks along the edges of the holes and end up breaking them. Ive had the stock rotors on my car for over 2 years with no problems.

i used to use AEM pads but then i switched over to PBR metal master pads. i like them better than the AEM because of less brake dust, about the same wear and stopping power...i got the brembo blanks and PBR metal master brake pads at the shop i work for...

Re: Brembo blanks vs. Kragen rotors (Ricey McRicerton)
I read this from the powerstop website http://www.powerstoprotors.com...s.htm So I guess the cracking problem has been reduced at least with powerstop rotors.
Anyone have slotted rotors and think their pads wear out fast?

Re: Brembo blanks vs. Kragen rotors (4doorex)
Any blank rotor is fine.
Rotors are a wear item, don't spend any more than you have to.
Also, why did you have your rotors turned? Were your brakes pulsing? The more mass you remove from a rotor by turning it, the more likely it is that the pulsing will come back. This pulsing, usually referred to as having "warped rotors," is caused more by your personal braking habits than anything else - mainly, leaving your foot on the pedal when you come to a dead stop after heavy braking.

Cool. I still don't think for a daily driver you need either cross drilled, or slotted rotors though. Just means you have to replace your pads quicker either way, and 99% of the time you won't be braking any more aggressively if you had the stock setup.

Yes my brakes were pulsing. The car is an automatic if I take my foot off the brakes i roll into traffic.
The only reason I am even considering drilled or slotted is I thought they would get rid of heat faster and I wouldn't have to change rotors so often. If I am going to have the same problem with slotted and drilled rotors then why by them at all?
If it's better to spend my money on pads then what does everyone recommend for a street driven mostly stock EJ Ex?
Also would upgrading the rears to disc help?

Re: (joshwhe)
just get some nice pads and some brembo blanks i paid the same or alittle more for the blanks as i would have for something from the parts store. the pads were more then what i would have paid... imo it is well worth it.
no need for slotted or drilled... they dont seem to last long/ cracking... plus if for some reason you wanted to get them turned its going to be hard finding a place that will trun them ( most companys use brembo blanks to cut)
yes they are a wear item.. but that doesnt mean you should get cheap ones. you woundnt get cheap tires would you??? thats a wear item too.
im not a fan of getting rotors turned... i rather just spend the extra and get new ones..
i pushed my brembos veryhard never had any issues with them
no need for rear disk....maybe just new shoes and drums
