Cant figure out whats wrong?????
even the mechanics at honda cant find anything wrong. my car have fuel, spark, air, and compression. yet it just cranks and cranks. doesn't fire up. gas is good, checked that. new dist and coil tried. new computer tried. new plugs tried. new ignition switch tried. no check engine lights and diagnostic computer isnt picking anything up. was driving one night in fifth gear, gave it gas up a hill, then nothing. the engine just stut off. pulled over and it just kept cranking. if anyone can figure this one out, i'd really appreciate it. even the techs at honda are stumped. thanx. BTW it is a 97 Type SH, minus the ATTS, plus JDM H22a, plus Limited Slip.

Im with IHateJDM, check your timing.

recheck your wiring harness and make sure you have everything plugged up...Also, in the motor wire harness, there are 2 plugs that send signals back through your motor. If you get under your car, it'll sit close to your header piping near where the O2 sensor connects. I can't remember exactly where the other one is. Also, what ECU are you using?

also, have you checked your fuel pressure? 15psi will spray you but good, but it won't run the injectors properly... I recently found this one out the hard way. My fuel pump was going out, but not completely gone.
I don't see how the base timing could be off if the car just suddenly stopped working while driving. My guess is a wiring issue. No CEL's?

Um if the tensioner dies and the timing belt has too much slack then the timing can either jump a tooth or 2 or can come completely off. Thus base timing would be off. Saw a 2.2SOHC with a destroyed tensioner the other day no valve damage new t belt and tensioner and the car ran mint. And then theres always the other option....bent valves....
Not saying that any of this happened to you but its a possibility.

Pull the plugs after a quick cranking and see if they are wet. Make sure the firing order is correct as well...Did the tech's do a compression test? Or are they just going by ear? Check and make sure all the ECU grounds are intact and in the proper arrangement and condition...
Also, can you hear the fuel pump priming when you turn the key to the accessory position?
Also, after all this cranking and diagnosing, check your oil and make sure there is no gasoline in it. If there is, you will be back to where you started when you do get it running, but a little more expensive this time..

i agree try this and see what your results are.... to see if you are getting fuel into the compression chamber try to flood the engine once and see if your plugs are wet (they should be)....

bet its not.
the main relay is what controls the power to the fuel pump. if the main relay is shot then you will not pump any fuel. he said he has fuel so that cant be it.
pump could be giving too little gas however. if you are cranking and cranking and you dont smell gas then you arent getting enough. then go with above and swap fuel pumps.
if you can hook up a fuel gauge to the line and see where you are at. you should see about 34 - 40 psi when you prime the pump.
