Default DC Sports header

i have already searched what i am looking for, but all that came up were a million old "classifieds" threads. What i need to know is, what is your over all opinions on DC Sport 4-1 header for the b series motor. i have heard that they are good for the money, but if you bottom them out at all their welds are bad and break really easily. please tell me if you would recommend getting this header. thanks a lot

The one with the 2.5" collector is nice for the price, but still hangs so low it's not even funny. Personally, I'd put up a couple of paychecks and get something nice.

I have a dc 4-2-1 and it is a nice piece. I have had it 4 a year and it still looks nice. The 4-1 maybe worth a few more ponies on top but not worth it in my opinion. Paycheck saving is a good idea!

Man I would say the 4-2-1 cause it makes better low end power. I like mine but, dont get me wrong i would rather get somthin like smsp or mugen.

Take a good look at some of the "high quality, good price" headers from companies like DTR.

SMSP is gonna cost you like a grand and they're not worth it unless you're gonna get it tuned

I believe Dave is offering one now in a lower price range. Only with tuning will the full benefit of the header be realized, but even without tuning great benefits can be achieved with good headers.

i run the 4-1 w/ 2.5 collector, it does hang really low and if your lowered you will hit it! it is a pretty good header for the price (depending on what your paying). as far as the welds breaking i have HUGE dents in mine from hitting it and the welds aren't broken yet so i wouldn't worry too much about that.

I think most of these people who complain about the header "hanging low" are running them on B16's. You have to keep in mind its a replica of a header made for a B18C, which has a 7mm taller deck height.. If its installed on a B18C, it doesn't hang low at all in my opinion. I have NEVER hit mine.

Consider yourself to be blessed then. Almost everyone I know rocking one on a B18 has had ground clearance issues, many of them in stock height cars.

I also have a DC4-1 header on my B16. It hangs ridiculously low. Ive got huge dents but other than that its still holding up pretty well.

Is the US DC 4-1 header and the JDM DC 4-1 header exactly the same? Except for the collector size?

no the USDM one does not hang as low as the JDM one, also the collector sizes are diff. JDM 2.5 USDM 2.25 i have a JDM 4-1 DC and am considering getting the usdm dc 4-2-1 or 4-1 for my gsr cuz i like the clearance and of course 4-2-1 for the nice low, mid range pwr,tq it makes.

true... i have a lsvtec... with a b16 head.. with jdm dc 4-1... 2 1/2 collector and it still hits...... its worth it.. but if you love to ride slam.. just get the jdm dc 4-2-1 with the 2 1/2 collector..

I used to run the JDM DC 4-1 w/ 2.5 collector.... I think it was an outstanding piece for the price I paid... I got it for $150 almost brand new....
I know the guy that bought my car is still running it without a problem

I also run the JDM DC 4-1 on my b16 EM1 without any problems and the roads around here are a far cry from the nice smooth so cal freeways. My car is lowered 1.3" and I never hit ever. I figure the guys that are hitting must have their cars slammed to the ground or drive them hard. 7mm is really only about 1/4" lower than what it would hang on a b18c so it's not that much of a difference. The JDM DC 4-1 with the 2.5" collector uses slightly larger primaries than the standard b16 DC 4-1 with the 2" collector. I swapped my regular DC 4-1 for the JDM version with the 2.5" collector and installed a hi-flow cat with it and it made a decent improvement in power. I know when I threw the wide band O2 on it to re tune it, I had to add a fair amount more fuel to it to get the ratio's back in line. I'll be going on the dyno in the near future for complete retuning so I'll get to see how the power curve changed.

My DC 4-1 header is dented all to **** (no cracks though, its a soldier), and I barely tuck tire on my DC...there are some crappy road conditions around here. It's a good bang for buck header, but if I didn't get mine for as cheap as I did (a buddy sold it to me along with a valve cover and primary O2 for $120), I probably would've gone with one of the higher price (higher quality) headers. I recently threw all my stock exhaust stuff back on, and after running the 2.5" DC, and open 2.5" carsound cat, it feels extremely choked, so I guess its safe to say you'll feel gains from adding the header, but I'd still hold out for another one.
