or have you switch to a different set of brake pads recently?

He is talking about acceleration and from what I have seen, I have never seen that happen on acceleration, only braking.

Where is the wheel shimmy from? Did it change when you rotated the wheels?

BlueR needs reading comprehension skills.

Spin the wheels on the balancer machine and check for out of roundness. Also what type of wheels are on your car?

bah, to all j00 fools: if there is a problem with the wheels or tires, it should have the shimmy at all speeds both under braking and acceleration

i am still wondering why he mentioned the rotors?

i mentioned rotors for the simple fact that they do get warped and cause wheel vibration.. although when my brakes are being applied i have no wheel shimmy....

any other ideas fellas>>> bent CV, bad motor mount, i havnt check these yet simply because it has been cold up here in the big AK..

im currently running stock wheels and suspension... and my tires have all even wear all the way around... when the tires were rotated it didnt feel like the vibration moved

If your wheels are in balance and wheels are in line then their is a possibility of a broken belt in the tire or that they are just chopped from hard driving. I used to work for a tire shop and these were the two main causes besides balance and wheels being out of round.

If you are running aftermarket wheels, try buying those hubcentric rings.

I also suspect that warped rotors and cause a shimmy at higher speeds (See Northern Exposure above). My rotors are warped, and my wheels shimmy at about 135kph even though I think my stock wheels are fine.

I doubt it's tire/wheel related since he said that he swap the wheels around. So the vibration would have followed the bad tire/wheel, and aparently it hasn't. i'd suspect either a driveshaft problem, a wheel bearing, or a steering system issue.

Jack the car up and test for play in the up/down and front/back direction by pulling/pushing on the wheel.

I found that the symptoms of loose lugnuts on front wheel tend to be most prominent under coasting down conditions, and almost undetectable under acceleration...but it sure could be the cause of a shimmy.

Could be an axle or a wheel bearing.

I would check the axles, wheel bearings and tie rod ends.

Also, check your bushings! My friend had the same problem with his civic and it was the big bushing on the front LCA. It was rotten and had a lot of slack. Definatly worth a check

Good luck with it!!

And if you get a chance, hit us back with your findings. I'm thinking I might have the same problem. But my tires are in need of replacement so I'm putting it down to the Slip Diff.
