What is this plastic piece
Can someone please tell me what this piece is? It is hard plastic, not rubber, and has an o-ring. I think it goes somewhere in the head, but i'm not sure. Its off of a b18c.

The cam seal is rubber though, right? This is hard plastic with 4 black tabs on the bottom of it. Does it go over the cam seal or something?
i think its the cam seal. i can't think of anywhere else it might go. yes, most of the time the cam seal is a thick rubber plug like that but i believe i've seen them like this as well. is the head disassembled now?
the cam seal is much thicker and has two sides to it, not just one. it looks to me like it might be what covers the timing belt tensioner bolt or something else on the timing cover.
can you put a ruler next to it so we can tell how big it is?

its a cam seal that goes on the same side the distributor is on, OEM ones are cheap plastic that are usually held in by gasket sealer, that is definately a cam seal.

Here are some more pics with a ruler. I dont *think* its a cam seal, but I could be wrong. The outside of it is worn, the inside is clean and oily. There is a small rubber o-ring around it. Thanks for all the replies!

No one else needs to guess. Thats the final and definite answer.

I believe the older b-series used a different style of cam seal. On my 1st gen b16 the cam seal doesn't have the "tangs" to be inserted while the cam holders are already in place. Mine was double sided and had to be put in before the cam bearing caps were torqued.

Just put one in, it looked funny at first because it's so thin.
