Default Attention all 6th generation accords!

Exactly how long will the cv joints last on 98-02 Accords 4-cyl models? I have 132k and they still run perfect with no boot tears! Has any 6th generation Accord 4-cly. owner replaced their CV joint or axle?

Age and hot/dry weather have more to do with how long the boots will last then mileage. I have a '99 with 200k and they still look good.

Mine started clicking around 130K. Most likely because of the H22.
With a stock F23, they will last for a long time.

Yes. 4 Cyl.

BTW all F23 and H22 are straight fours.

It's manual.

No other problems that I am aware of in regards to the stock parts.

4 cyl, stick. When I bought it, it had 30k on it. The only problems I've had so far... bad alternator, and adjust the set screw for the idle. I started a thread here for the idle prob. The cat died, I will replace it next time I have to get a smog check. It burns a qt of oil in 3000 to 4000 miles. One reason I think it has done so well is that NO ONE touches my car. I do all the maintenance and repairs. My only beef with the car is that the arm rests suck.

My alternator went out at about 50k or so... There were 2 different alternators installed on Accords througout the years. One was actually made by GM, and I forgot the other manufacturer. I can't remember which at the moment, but one of the brands is known to fail, the other holds up fine.

The only other problems I've with my '99 were:

1. The crank pulley fell off while driving down the highway. The pulley was never touched before... The key weight (proper term?) apparently just broke apart. I've never heard of that happening before...

2. Front passenger door lock quit working. I was too lazy to ever get around to fixing it, and strangely enough, after 3 months of not working at all, it works perfectly again. I'm not complaining.

3. I had a pretty nasty vibration at idle for a while. But that's because I was still running the original distributor cap and rotor (140,000 miles). Finally replaced them and the car is nice and smooth once again.

Now at 145k miles, with no problems. CV joints are good, no cracks in the boots. Car has been lowered for the past 3 or so years.
