Default tranny cooler

When I purchased my h22, i noticed 2 lines coming out of the tranny. Everyone said it was for speed sensitive steering, or some other crap. The auto tranny that came out of the car had cooler lines going to the radiator, which everyone told me to cap off. So I did. I just put a 6 puk racing clutch n flywheel in, and after about 5 minutes of driving, it slips like crazy! So, does the prelude, with a MANUAL tranny, have cooler lines? And if so, which is in and which is out, so I can hook em up right?

there is no cooler on the manual transmission

either the clutch was not installed properly, or something is not working properly.

the two lines on the back of the transmission are, infact, power steering. They go through the vehicle speed sensor.

When I installed the clutch, I followed all instructions and torque specifications to the T. I've been messing with cars my whole life and have a pretty good understanding of them. Not my first clutch swap either. Not to say it isn't possible. I'm at a loss. The other reason I don't think it was an installation error, is because the stock clutch did the exact same thing. That's why I replaced it, thinking it was going bad.

you replaced the throwout bearing, correct?

that is very odd... I would think hydraulic problem, but that usually results in the clutch not disengaging.... not the problem of not staying engaged...

and did you make sure there wasn't any grease, or oil left in the housing or around the flywheel that could cause slipping?

The throwout bearing, pressure plate, clutch and flywheel all were replaced. And clean. It's an exedy, so I don't question the quality of the parts. The owner of a local parts store I frequent suggested header wrap. That since the slave solenoid is so close to the header, the heat might cause pressure in the hydraulic line causing the slave to extend. ??? I took a steel rod and cut it down about quarter inch shorter than the slave cylinder, but after about 3 miles of driving, it started to chatter, then slip again. I tried this because it is an accord slave cyl, and the prelude slave cyl is slightly shorter. The clutch paddle, (paddle the slave cyl pushes on to move throwout brng), has like an inch and a half of slop! I just realized this. Don't know if this is normal or not.

Sounds like a clearance problem somewhere. When things get hot they expand. I'd start checking clearances from the pedal to the clutch.

For the tranny cooler you have to tap your lines and I think you need a pump too.

What clearances? From the pedal to the clutch is all hard line.

if the arm thingy has some play in it, maybe its not seated properly to the bearing... like only one of the tabs is in place?

IT'S starting to look as though dropping the transmission again is my only option. Perhaps something was overlooked. What I don't get, if it's a mechanical problem, why wouldn't it slip all the time? (hypothetical question)

Get the engine warmed up and check pedal freeplay. Then make sure you can feel/ hear the clutch fork tap against the slave by jiggling it left to right. If you can't feel it, it could be that everything expanded causing the clutch to be partially disengaged. That would explain why you're having this problem on two clutches. If its not any of those, then pull the tranny.

I removed the slave cylinder. From the motion I have on the clutch fork, it feels like it's broke. I ordered a new one and should be here tomorrow. I just hope I didn't glaze/ burn out my new clutch. I'm pretty confident that when I pull the tranny, that's going to be the problem.

Clutch fork was fine. I dropped an act clutch in this time. My upper vtec solenoid was leaking oil, and it looks like a bit may have gotten thru the tranny seal. Or maybe too much grease on throwout bearing who knows. Anyway, we got the car all back together, and after about 1 mile the slave cylinder froze in extended position and blew out it's seal. So, I dunno. Can't even tell if it's still going to slip.
