Default Best Aftermarket CD Player for 98 Accord?

Okay, after my CD player dying on long road trips I'm breaking down and switching the damn thing out for an aftermarket one. Any advice on which is the best brand/model to get? I'm looking at Pioneer right now since that's what the stock speakers are supposedly. Some guy at the store told me I need to get a special adapter cable to get the thing to work with my car too...is that true? Any help would be greatly appreciated...I'm new at this stereo stuff.

Since you are new. Best advise is to let the pros install it. They will get the HU of your choice to work so you don't need to figure out all these details. Installation price should be the same for ALL cars - flat rate. If they try to charge you more for Car A compare to Car B, then maybe it's not a good shop. Sure some car may require more parts to install, but it's not a sign of "good business."

I would say get the one that looks best IN your car, and easy to use.

If you stay with the major brands, you really can't go too wrong. Stay within budget and buy what you can afford. I would try to rebudget your funds for at least 2 new speakers up front too. A new HU deserve some new speakers too. You can leave the rears as "fill ins."

Like the first guy said....stay with the major brands.
Personally I like JVC. I have one in my Prelude and it looks good, is easy to use and wasn't terribly exspensive. I have seen the same one now for as low as $130. It has a 45x4 power output, detachable face, and a remote controle. If all you want is one that will play CD's and tune in the radio....you can get a lower model for less money. I also would agree with saying replace the front door speakers. I dont know about the stock speakers being made by pioneer...it may depend on your trim level...but All i have seen in them are paper coned speakers. I believe yours would be 6 1/2 " in the front doors....should be able to get a good pair of them around $40-$50...it is definetly worth it
