If anybody read my last thread, I had 50 compression in one of my cylinders. This explains it all. I am getting the headwork done, and hopefully have her put back together soon.

Getting started:

Heads off:

Well, well, well:

Don't cry son, it will be better soon:

I have purchased new motor mounts, a Hondata IM gasket, and some other goodies as well. Just sucks not having her around.

Damn. Any idea what in the heck happened?

What are you going to have done to the head while it's off?

I have a feeling that the valve was out of adjustment, and I probably over-revved the motor. More than likely, its something stupid I did at one point in time. I really doubt that the valve just burned up. So I think I own this one.

I am going to have a multi angle vavle job, and a mild P&P done. Nothing major, I am on a very tight budget(see last pic) diapers and baby food have #1 priority now.

I will be setting the cam timing back to 0 intake and 0 exhaust. Before they where at +3 intake -2 exhaust.

i guess it could have been worse man, but its still a pain in the ***. i want to be there when you put everything back together since i missed the tear-down.

what exactly causes the valve to get like that? i'd think that if you over-revved the valves would have smacked the top of the piston and been way worse. excessive heat?

call me when you get off tonight.

ooo nice squared off valve there.

Doesnt look to costly to get that fixed, also get the head nice and refreshed. valvejob, new seals, have them pressure test is and check the seats etc..

shouldent be to expensive.

Nope the valve is only like $20.00. And the headwork will be less than $300.00, I got real lucky.

If the Type R head is already P&P'ed from honda, is it worth it to pay someone to do this?

it's not really ported, just polished, and mildly at that.

an aggressive port would definately add more HP.

awesome pictures! hope she's better soon!

weird. definitely could have been a lot worse. how did the car run in that condition? also, Im assuming you will get all the valves checked as well. I blew my motor last yr(shot rod #3 out of the block), and thought the damage was only in cylinder 3, but turns out I needed 7 new valves. so I replaced those, got a valve job and seals, and it runs beautiful.

just did the same thing in a buddy's car. she had one valve that burned clean through and 3 others that pitted beyond me feeling same to face out. i ended up buyin 4 valves. it was valve# 2 that was burned in mine (where your would be valve # 5). just make sure they check them all, and id hoe the place you take it to get worked on would have that much sense.
just trying to keep a member in the loop. good luck

Yeah I guess you could say that. As far as how the car ran, it actually didn't feel too bad. I raced a mustang and still won, if thats any indication.

I am going to have all the valves checked, thanks for the advice.
