Default GSR or CRVtec???

OK so my engine blew up now i need a new motor. Its my only car so i need to build asap. Reliability is now the number one concern. Then power. Here is a list of things that was saved and will be installed in this build:
-S2S2 cams
-Omni springs/retainers
-STR Adj camgears
-Hondata stage3
-ITR tranny

Here are my choices:
1) B18 GSR head and block
2) ITR head and B20B stock block

If reliability is your number one concern, I would go with a GSR.

I thought the B20 would be more reliable because of its low compression. Since i would be keeping it stock block.

IMO as long as you build the b20 properly and don't take any short-cuts i think it would be as reliable as a bone stock gsr. but its your project so good luck on your next build bro...... BTW whats the stock cr on a b20 with a itr head?

Gsr is more reliable but its your choice. the cr is hard to tell with the b20vtec the head sometimes raise the stock compression

when doing a frankenstein, compression should be the least of your worries.

Your motor will be as reliable as the person building it.

I have a b20vtec and I can honestly say the potential to screw up a b20v build is far greater than building a B18c (mainly because you're building a hybrid motor vs. dropping in a Honda tested motor).

you'll be changing more stuff just to get the B20v to work, which leads to more potential to screw up (the more you have to do, the greater chance of making an error or having a broken part, etc.).

I'm not saying you or your mechanic are incompetent, but it's just a fact of life

have someone you trust or is known to build frankmotor and go b20z vtec. i have a b20z gsr head with stock internals and is still running strong with no leaks for 2 years now which i beat on it every day. i have no doubt that this motor will last for a very long time. 199 whp 150 tourqe
