98 ls teg turbo install procedure
So i've got a turbo kit coming my way very soon, but my biggest problem is that i'm at school to far to drive home, but i still want to install it. I do have access to a decent shop here, but i can't leave my car apart in there for more than a day, and I have to be able to move it out on a moments notice. So i'm trying to do the install in levels that still allow me to drive my car while some of the parts are on... does this sound ok?
First Round:
Change & Install Oil pan (moroso) & New gasket
Install Gauges
Install Gauge bezel
Install GM 3 bar map sensor (will this work with stock ECU??)
Install ARP head studs
Drive around for a while
Second Round:
Install Manifold, turbo, wastegate assembly
Install Downpipe
Install Oil Feed & Return lines
Install IC piping & Intercooler
Install BOV
Install MBC
Here I would set the wastegate to 0 psi or maybe even put an air filter on the turbo and one on the charge pipe and not connect the piping... any thoughts???
Drive around for a few days again.
Final round:
Install P28 ecu w/ hondata & harness
Install 650 cc injectors
Start and tune
Is there anything that I've missed or anything that would cause damage to anything?

the 3 bar will not work with your ECU.
you can take the wastegate spring out and that will not enable the turbo to spool. I wouldn't drive like this as it is loud and you could boost a few PSI since a wastegate needs to get bigger the lower the boost you run.
I would install round one---without 3bar hooked
Then do round 2 and keep the wastegate spring and immediatly drive (very slowly aka no boosting) to your tuner and the get everything on and tuned

WOW!!!!!!!!!!
Well as far as the gauges go etc. day 1 you can do all of that outside of the shop. Jack the car up and change the pan. Hell I did all of mine with a jack. If you can get access to a jack then just do it at your place. Do you have tools??? If not go to sears and get the 246 piece set for like $169 it has all the tools you'll need. And when you go to take out the oil pressure sensor go to Autozone and get the socket for it it's $5 you'll need that.
I'd just borrow someones jack and buy the tools from Sears. Then do it at ur place wherever that might be. And just walk till you get it done. Try to get everything together before you install it. Like the manifold, turbo, and wastegate. Then install the BOV on the IC piping do as much as possible and it will save time on installing it. Do all of this where you don't have to go anywhere for like 2 maybe 3 days. Something always happens.
Also it would be better when you change the oil to do the oil lines at that time. that's why I say just do it all at once. Get a friend to help etc. Hope this helps
Ohh and unless your wastegate spring is 0 psi spring you get the wastegate to boost 0psi BTW and the smallest I know of is 5psi. Sounds like it might be some trouble to do it in different steps and still drive the car but that's me.

the thing is if you get in the higher RPMS with load (hammering the throttle) the WG might not be big enough to evacuate enough gas to not spool the turbo so even with no spring you could end up boosting a couple PSI
. But it's just a safety measure if you have to run NA with a turbo setup

The problem is the apartment complex i live at doesn't allow car repairs in their lot. I may be able to find someone with a garage that would be able to let me do it there, i would just not want to do it out in the open because i've had my car broken into here before and i don't want to risk having anything stolen. Also, the tools and jack are not a problem, I have metric and standard wrenches and sockets, etc... .but i will need the specialty tools which i won't mind picking up from autozone.
And if i do drive with the turbo on, i could stay off the throttle for a week... i'm not that that addicted to speed... yet. And i was thinking i could also not install the BOV and wrap a rag over the hole and tie it on with zipties to act like an air filter that lets air out, just so long as the rag doesn't catch on fire.
thanks guys

If you are still having trouble finding places to install it in look into those storage places. Some storage places have storage units big enough to drive a car into.

take the spring out and remove your bov. Then zip tie a rag around your bov flange untill you tune for boost. This way you won't boost any and will still filter air to your engine
And like adseguy said the three bar is not going to work until you scale your hondata, So don't put it on yet. You could still splice the map wires in and attach it to your firewall so when it is time to tune all you would have to do is unplug the stock map and plug in the three bar

Hey ben, do you realize that this is your turbo kit that i'm talking about?
