What fluid do you guys use in your parts washer?
Fire Dept inspection says no more Kerosene...use Simple Green. That stuff wont clean oily pans, etc. What do you guys use for your washer?
I know people that use mineral spirits with good luck. You can get it right at home depot or sometimes cheaper in bulk at paint stores. Also Graymills makes a spirits based cleaning fluid with some stuff in it to make it easier on your skin and your nose.

I ripped my washer fluid system out to route my charge pipes. I never really used it anyways and when I did it didn't work very well (maybe the shitty wipers had something to do with it). I live in the PNW where it rains constantly and I don't miss it at all.

Does your parts washer have the lid that closes by itself if there is a fire.. Mineral spirts is also flamable so I dont see the difference between them from a safety view..

I just bought a Parts Washer from Harbor Freight and Im using their concentrated industrial degreaser. I washed a few things with it full strength but its very slimy and doesnt rinse off well. Should I dilute it with something or run it full strength?

we use mineral spirits. that greasy cleaner **** sucks.
we have 3 different parts washers. one is ultrasonic, it uses 409 and water. its heated and has a timer
2 others use mineral spirits and have a brush.

We use Safety Kleen, they come out and change the fluid every month or so. I dont know what fluid they use but its a lot better than mineral spirits and kerosene. We work with some of the greasiest parts known to man and it does the job, it also doesnt smell as strong or make your hands tingle if you clean anything bare handed. Using them also saves the hassle of having to get rid of the fluid once its contaminated or even having to filter it every now and again.
Yep, you pretty much just lease the parts cleaner from them and they maintain it. It just one less thing to worry about.
Yeah the solvent Im using doesnt smell but it irritates the skin terribly. Im wondering if there is anything I should dilute it with?
